The Best Baby & Kid Friendly Luxury Resorts in Riviera Maya, Mexico
Riviera Maya is one of the easiest places in the world to travel with babies and young kids without giving up comfort. Flights are short, transfers are straightforward, and the best resorts here genuinely understand what families need, not just at a surface level, but in the day-to-day details that actually matter.
Below are the luxury resorts we recommend most often (and we have firsthand experience with each of them!), each for a slightly different reason depending on how you like to travel.
Why Book Through Us

When you book through Muse Bespoke Escapes, you receive preferred partner benefits at these resorts that make the experience smoother from the moment you arrive.
These vary by property but typically include:
- 🍳 Daily breakfast for two
- 💸 Resort or dining credit
- ⬆️ Room upgrade on arrival when available
- ⏰ Early check-in and late checkout when possible
- 🌴 VIP recognition at the resort
With kids, those amenities often make a big difference.
Grand Velas Riviera Maya – Best for all-inclusive luxury with kids

Grand Velas Riviera Maya is the resort we recommend when families want everything handled for them. Meals, snacks, activities, and entertainment are all included, which takes a surprising amount of mental load off parents.
What really sets Grand Velas apart is that it manages to be both fun for kids and genuinely enjoyable for adults. You’re not sacrificing food quality or comfort just because you’re traveling with children.
- Multiple pools with extensive shallow areas and family zones
- Two standout kids clubs that are open from 9am to 11pm! Kids can even join for dinner
- Room service included, which is invaluable with naps and early nights
- Several high-quality restaurants with very different menus, including the Michelin Star Cocina de Autor
- Baby concierge which offers everything from strollers to sterilizers and baby puree
It’s a big resort, but it’s well organized, and families never feel like an afterthought.
Agent benefits here include room upgrade at check in based on availability, spa credit, early check in, late check out based on availability, and our VIP signature service (arrive with everything set up!).
Rooms start around $800/night.
Banyan Tree Mayakoba – Best for private pool villas and total privacy

Banyan Tree Mayakoba is ideal for families who want space and quiet with an incredible beach. Every guest stays in a private villa with its own pool, which completely changes how the trip feels.
It’s located on a mangrove network which means taking a duffy boat to dinner, seeing turtles and fish as you eat, and enjoying a truly unique stay. While most rooms aren’t beachfront in Mayakoba, it’s a unique jungle experience with lots of wildlife sightings and a gorgeous beach club (with a kid’s club right there!) that you can spend all day at.
- Standalone villas with private pools
- Calm, nature-filled setting along lagoons and mangroves
- Easy movement by bike, golf cart, or boat
- Flexible dining options that work well with kids
This is the place we suggest when parents want a true reset and kids benefit from routine and downtime. It’s also possible to book a stay inclusive of all food and nonalcoholic beverages.
Rooms start around $800/night and there are up to 3br villas available (which we stayed in and recommend!). Benefits here include room upgrades based on availability, $100 resort credit, early check in, late check out based on availability, and breakfast.
Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya – Best for refined luxury close to Cancun airport

The Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya is a great option for families who want a polished, calm resort without a long transfer. Being only about 15 minutes from the airport makes arrival and departure days dramatically easier.
The resort feels intimate and walkable, which helps everything feel manageable when traveling with kids.
- Beautiful ocean-view rooms with generous layouts
- Pools with large shallow areas suitable for young children
- Strong dining program that doesn’t feel repetitive
- Calm, elegant design without being formal or stiff
It’s especially well suited to families who want luxury without excess or sprawl. Benefits here include
room upgrades based on availability, $100 resort credit, early check in, late check out based on availability, and breakfast. Rooms start at $650/night.
Rosewood Mayakoba – Best for elegant, high-touch family travel

Rosewood Mayakoba stands out for its service. Everything feels personalized and thoughtful, from room layouts to how staff interact with kids.
It’s refined, but never precious, and families are clearly welcome here. There are also multi-room villas up to 4 bedrooms that extended families can book.
- Spacious rooms and suites, many with plunge pools
- Excellent kids programming that doesn’t overwhelm
- Lagoon-side setting that feels peaceful and contained

This is a great choice for families who appreciate design, calm surroundings, and highly attentive service. Located in the same complex as Banyan Tree Riviera Maya and Fairmont, you can resort hop for restaurant variety as well.
Rosewood Elite benefits include room upgrades based on availability, $100 resort credit, early check in, late check out based on availability, and breakfast. Rooms start around $900/night.
Etéreo – Best for boutique-style luxury with young kids

Etéreo by Auberge has a quieter, more intimate feel than many Riviera Maya resorts. It’s particularly well suited to families with babies or toddlers who don’t necessarily want to feel like they’re at a family resort (though they do have a kid’s club, splash pad, and calm beach on offer!).
The design is modern and calming – a celebration of Mexican art and architecture – and the atmosphere encourages slowing down at this boutique resort, which only has 75 rooms.
- Smaller resort footprint with fewer crowds
- Calm beach and pool areas
- Many rooms with private plunge pools
- Thoughtful food and relaxed service
If you prefer boutique hotels and a low-key vibe, this is an excellent option. Benefits here include room upgrades based on availability, $100 resort credit, early check in, late check out based on availability, and breakfast. Rooms start around $900/night.
Fairmont Mayakoba – Best for Affordable Luxury
Fairmont Mayakoba is the largest of the Mayakoba resorts and while there are plenty of splurge room categories, this is a great option for those who might have a slightly smaller budget but still want a true five star experience.
The grounds are beautiful and easy to explore, and there’s something here for every age.
- Wide variety of room types and connecting options
- Multiple pools with shallow sections for kids
- Kids club with activities for different age groups
- Easy walking paths and boat canals throughout the resort
It’s a solid, reliable choice. Benefits include room upgrades based on availability, $100 resort credit, early check in, late check out based on availability, and breakfast. Rooms start around $400/night.
Final Thoughts
There’s no single “best” resort in Riviera Maya for families, but there is a best fit depending on how you travel.
There are also many parts of Mexico that could be a great fit for your family. Here’s our list of favorite baby and toddler friendly hotels in Cabo for some options, along with our favorite destinations we’ve visited.
Some families want everything included and handled. Others want space, privacy, or a quieter pace. The good news is that Riviera Maya does all of those well.
*A big thank you to these hotels for hosting our stays. We hand selected each of these before arriving, and are pleased to report that all lived up to expectations.
