The Ultimate Family Getaway at Andaz Bali: An Honest Review

It’s a rare thing, isn’t it? The perfect balance between luxury and child-friendly features. As a mother, I sometimes wonder if these two worlds can ever really coexist without a whole lot of compromise. But then I stepped into Andaz Bali in Sanur, and my skepticism flew out the window faster than my toddler can throw a tantrum.

This resort is where the soothing sounds of waves meet the soft giggles of children, and where the most pressing concern is whether to sip your cocktail by the pool or by the beach (a choice I don’t make lightly, mind you). But let’s get into it—because if you’re a parent, this place is nothing short of a revelation.

Andaz Bali hosted my family and I on this stay. All thoughts on the resort and experience are my own. Your trust always comes first! Note that any booking you make through us supports us at no extra cost to you:

The Location: Peaceful Yet Convenient

Nestled away from the chaotic hustle and bustle of Bali’s more crowded areas like Kuta and Seminyak, Sanur offers a more tranquil vibe without sacrificing convenience. It’s the perfect balance for families who want to escape the frenzy but still be close enough to explore. You’re just a short drive from the airport—making it an easy destination for a quick getaway, or for those with young children who might not have the patience for long transfers. And while the area is peaceful, Sanur still offers plenty of charming cafes, markets, and cultural experiences within walking distance, so you can venture out without feeling overwhelmed. It’s the kind of place that lets you unwind, but also gives you just enough to see and do without needing to travel far. A perfect home base for a family getaway.

The Villa & Room Types: Tailored to Your Family Size and Style

If you’re anything like me, you know that traveling with a baby means more stuff—more clothes, more snacks, more toys. So, the idea of staying in a space that’s as roomy as it is stylish makes all the difference. Andaz Bali has a variety of accommodations that can cater to families of all shapes and sizes. From spacious beachfront villas to serene poolside suites, there’s no shortage of options to help you feel like you’re living the dream.

For smaller families or parents with babies who need a cozy retreat, the Lagoon Access Room is perfect. You can step out of your room and straight into your private pool, which feels like an indulgence, but one you’ll quickly realize is essential.

For those of you traveling with older kids, the Garden Pool Villas with interconnecting room available offer so much space to spread out. The villas are designed with privacy in mind, meaning you can easily have a little downtime while the little ones nap or play, all within a stone’s throw of the pool and beach. If you’ve got a larger family, or you’re planning to visit with extended family or friends, the Two-Bedroom Beach Pool Villas offer the flexibility and space to make everyone feel at home.

As for us, we stayed in the King Bed Lagoon Access Room, and it was absolutely perfect. The lagoon access is a game-changer, especially for families. During the day, it’s perfect for our little one to splash around, but the beauty is in how it transforms after bedtime. Once the baby is tucked in, it’s the perfect way for parents to wind down, enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of the lagoon. The room itself is spacious and beautifully designed, with a large, open layout that makes it easy to feel at home.

And then there’s the bathroom—oh my goodness. If you’ve ever dreamed of having a bathroom that feels like a sanctuary, this is it. The oversized bathtub is big enough for two (or a baby, if that’s your thing). It’s the kind of bathroom where you can actually take a deep breath, relax, and pretend you’re not constantly on diaper duty. The perfect escape for parents who need a moment to recharge.

The Welcome Amenities: Because It’s the Little Things

When you’re traveling with a baby, it’s the little touches that make all the difference. I’ve been handed a lot of “welcome gifts” in my day, but when I saw the baby cot and a full set of kids’ toiletries waiting for us in our room—shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and bugs repellent—I knew Andaz Bali had read my mind.

For us adults, thanks to booking the room via Hyatt Privé, there were fresh coconuts, sparkling water, local fruits, cakes and delicacies, as well as a personal welcome note from the hotel manager. Yes, we felt oh so very welcome, thank you very much.

The Restaurant: Eating Well Without the Stress

We’ve all been there—sitting in a nice restaurant with a fussy baby, desperately trying to eat while keeping the tiny human from crying. At Andaz Bali, you won’t feel like you’re juggling your dinner with a baby wrangle. The Fisherman’s Club, an idyllic beachfront restaurant, was an absolute game-changer for us. It’s laid-back but refined, with plenty of outdoor seating so your baby can gaze out at the waves and even play on the sand while you indulge in some of the freshest seafood (we loved the Fisherman’s Catch of the day!).

But what really sold me were the staff. It was clear they were used to kids running around. The waitstaff took the time to chat with our little one, and when the evening fusses came around, one of them even folded a napkin rose for her to entertain her for a few minutes. That level of care is rare, and it made a meal with a baby a lot more pleasant than I’d anticipated.

The Facilities: A Playground for Parents and Kids Alike

One of the standout features of Andaz Bali, especially for parents, is the sheer abundance of space. I swear, there’s something so freeing about having room to move without worrying that your child is going to crash into someone’s pristine, white linen. From the big Kids’ Pool (which, by the way, I may or may not have splashed around in myself—it’s THAT fun) to the wide-open grassy areas where kids can run wild, Andaz Bali feels like a little paradise for families.

Let’s talk about beachfront access for a moment, shall we? Sanur Beach is quiet, calm, and far less crowded than some of Bali’s other hotspots, which means you can dip your toes in the water without worrying about the current or aggressive waves. It’s a total blessing when you’ve got a baby or young child—peace of mind, with all the beauty of the ocean.

And for those rare moments when you just want to sit back and let someone else entertain your child for a while, The Kids’ Program has got you covered. It’s a mix of educational and fun activities (like turtle conservation programs, more on that in a second!), and the best part? Your little one will probably want to return each day.

The Sea Turtle Conservation Program: Teaching the Kids (and Ourselves) Something Wonderful

One of the most heartwarming aspects of our stay was learning about Andaz Bali’s Sea Turtle Reservation Program. The resort actively supports local sea turtle conservation efforts, and yes, they involve the kids. It’s an incredible opportunity to teach our children about the importance of nature conservation in a way they can actually engage with. If you visit in April, you might even be able to witness a baby turtle release into the wild. It’s the kind of experience that leaves a lasting impression—not just on the kids, but on all of us.

The Verdict: A Dream for Families

Andaz Bali’s blend of luxury and child-focused amenities, combined with a genuinely friendly, relaxed atmosphere, made it feel like a true home away from home. Whether you’re lounging by the beach, dining at the Fisherman’s Club, or taking part in the Sea Turtle Conservation Program, Andaz Bali provides an experience that caters to parents, babies, and even big kids—without ever sacrificing comfort or style.

So if you’re planning a family trip to Bali, do yourself a favor: book a stay at Andaz Bali. It’s the kind of place where your baby will sleep soundly, you’ll relax completely, and your biggest problem will be deciding whether to order another round of cocktails by the pool. And honestly, that’s my kind of vacation.
